Dude , are you just saying this because you think installing java on ubuntu for PC is the same as installing java on PS3(ppc64) ?? its a lie , i never got my ubuntu(ps3) to install java. everytime i
i’ve been trying to do this for weeks, googled searched searched and more searching !! 
i’ve even taking the time to register on IBM and downloaded the ibm-java2-sdk-5.0-4.0-linux-ppc.tgz ,please ! i need information on how to install this manually 
“$ sudo apt-get install libgtk1.2 libstdc++5 java-package” after the installation reaches 73% terminal prompts to insert disc labeled “Ubuntu 7.10 _Gutsy Gibbon_ - Release powerpc+ps3 (20071016)” and press enter
a disc which i don’t have and i’d bet who ever gave out this intructions doesn’t have els it would have been stated in the instructions.
Please !! anyone if installing java on ubuntu(PS3) is possible, please help me do this like you all managed because nothing seems to be working
