Warning: This is a development build, so do not install this unless you know how to return to an older stable kernel.

Dan Munckton has released a new test kernel based on 2.6.25.7 from upstream, with some of Geoff’s Cell patches applied. You can find sources and a build for powerpc64-smp here: http://ubuntu.munckfish.net/linux-ports/

Feedback is wanted on hardware support and other issues.

More information on the build on the cell mailing list.

Did anyone try it? My ubuntu is still no wifi and bluetooth doesn’t work. Can it fix my problems? Also, any instruction to upgrade to this new kernel?

wifi supposed works in this build. but it’s an early test build.

if you want stable wifi linux of ps3, and don’t know how to update to a new kernal, I recommend going with yellow dog linux 6.0 until they release a stable version.

I am experiencing random system lockups with this kernel. If I can narrow down where/when, I will post a bug report.

With that said, I am very excited that this development is happening, and I hope I can provide helpful end-user feedback.

I have joined the mailing list and will begin reporting there, soon. I am currently on Hardy with fluxbox and this dev kernel, having started with a Kubuntu Gutsy install.
