Ubuntu-Cell developer Dan M. has applied a patch to the 2.6.25 kernel which now boots, allocates the right amount of memory and shuts the system down properly. They are hoping the Ubuntu Kernel Team will make an exception and let the updated kernel into the Intrepid repositories.
Now they need some testers to check if everything works ok.
Download the 2.6.25-2.3~danm4 deb (normal or debug mode) from here: http://ubuntu.munckfish.net/linux-ports/

Hurrah, let’s see how ps3_defconfig works

Non-devs will probably want to skip the headers package due to a dependency problem, but the non-debug kernel went right in for me, and produced a much cleaner set of logs. Only complaints were spufs (empty /spu filesystem) and AppArmor. No regressions as best I know; wireless, audio, and X11 work fine. I forgot to do a normal shutdown, but the “halt” command continues to work fine.
I’m curious how everyone’s doing with Intrepid in general. It really feels close, and the only real configuration error I know of is that my user was not in the audio and video groups (/etc/group). Perhaps it’s because Intrepid’s install process aborted at a key point, or because I haven’t installed any *-desktop package.
Totem and/or Gstreamer itself are sick here, as if URL parsing isn’t working or something. However, XMMS2 is doing fine. Firefox 3 with the NoSquint extension is nice, and the Gnash plugin works for the simple flash stuff but crashes on Youtube videos.

No better than Yellow Dog Linux 6.0.

As Yellow Dog Linux 6.0 is also an open source OS.Can we learn something from that?e.g. get into Internet through PPPoE , make Wi-Fi and Bluetooth working as usual.

Well, PS3Kubuntu, as topic suggest, you also can help making ubuntu better by testing this kernel.
