There’s been a while since the last update on psubuntu.com, but today we’re launching a new site feature. The PSUbuntu Wiki will make it easier to access the latest installation instructions or discover new ways to set up the OS.
So far it contains mostly material copied from our previous installation instructions, but we hope it will grow with more howtos and tutorials quickly.
We will keep it open for everyone to edit in the beginning, but might have to add some restrictions later.
cjwatson wrote a forum post on the current state of PSUbuntu development. Basically it’s a team of three at Canonical who have been working on Ubuntu support for the PS3. Now they could use some help on development and architecture for the platform.

Follow the instructions on nomegos Optimizing the Ubuntu PS3 experience page, and you should be able to watch videos with better performance running the command
mplayer-ps3 -vo ps3 -fs filename
from the terminal.
The latest firmware update for the PS3 (v2.0) for some reason removes wireless configuration from your PSUbuntu Network Manager.
The solution is to upgrade your kernel using the linux-kernel-2.6.23-rc7_tools package.
Here’s how to do it:
If anyone has any idea as to why this happened, or if there are other ways to get Wifi back, let us know!
See this forum thread for more.
We have begun writing up an initial walkthrough for configuring your system following the new installation instructions guide. So far we have covered monitor setup and wireless network configuration (WEP only). We will keep updating the setup page as new solutions come up. Your comments and contributions are most welcome.
