Graphical kboot

Petitboot is a very nice looking visual version of the bootloader for the PS3, kboot. According to the creator, it should work as a replacement of otheros.bld.

Find downloads and instructions here: http://ozlabs.org/~jk/projects/petitboot/

Thanks, Jeremy!

UPDATE 2: A sollution has been posted to the HowTos forum. Thanks, trainstoker!

Just installed this and now I can’t boot into Debian anymore. I can hit delete and return to the XMB though.

Likewise… nothing seems to boot from this, uh, boot loader.

    Hi folks, Jeremy here.

If you’re having trouble booting, please send me an email (jk at ozlabs.org). I’ll probably need a copy of your kboot.conf and a description of what goes wrong (no icons? or just doesn’t boot when you hit enter?). Alternatively, you can probably find me on freenode, as jk-.

This is still at beta stage, and the more bugs we can get sorted out now, the better :)

    Cheers!

    Jeremy

I have tried to boot from petitboot, and it is load the loader, but when I try to run something from CD is not working. The CD is boot CD and if I boot from that is working (Ubuntu). An another problem is that I thought I will install Ubuntu from External HDD, but loader do not see it. Is there a way to make it to see the external HDD?

Works just fine for me, except boot timeout.
How do you get it to select 720p as default, though?
And how do you create new icons?

    Did you type:
    boot-game-os?
Try downloading the ubuntu image again and check if the md5sum is the same for the two iso files.

    Hi, Jeremy,

after installing Petitboot 0.2 it no longer boots any media (I’ve tried to boot Megabox and Xubuntu 7.10). “Boot install” message is displayed forever. I was able to boot Megabox using Petitboot 0.1 without any problem.
