Hi all,
My ps3 was replaced due to a "dead" drive, and so with the old system was gonne my old Gutsy install.
I wanted my new ps3 going for a recent ubuntu release again, and so I went for my own, ignoring hardy and upgrades from gutsy to hardy or else, walking through the new "on the works" Intrepid release. The result: I got my ps3 running Intrepid and my favourite desktop (Kde 4.1 - It's fast than default ubuntu desktop, I think it's the ideal for the PS3 Ubuntu)

I'll post some basic info about my procedure if some of you want to go for it also:
- I used kubuntu-8.04.1-alternate-powerpc+ps3 (31/07/2008) daily build for the install.
- When I was asked about what kernel to install I said "none", and then I manually installed the test kernel for PSUbuntu developers. You can get it at
http://ubuntu.munckfish.net/linux-ports/- I used Petitboot, got this one:
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/ ... .06.27.bld- Edited My sources.list so it looks:
deb

deb

deb
http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/ intrepid-updates universe main multiverse restricted

deb

deb

- Finally: apt-get install kubuntu-desktop
If everything went fine when you reboot the system you'll be prompted by kdm. Have fun Kdeing!!
